Babbage, LLC
Privacy Policy
Effective August 20, 2026
Who we are and what this covers
Babbage, LLC ("Babbage", "we", "us") builds and maintains websites for small businesses. This policy explains how we handle personal information in the Babbage client portal — the site you are reading now — which we use to collect project intake details, present proposals and contracts, and record your acceptance of those documents by clickwrap signature.
This policy covers the portal only. Our marketing site and any website we build and host for you as a client are separate, and a website we deliver to you is governed by your own privacy policy, not this one.
What we collect
We collect the information you give us in the portal, plus a small amount of technical information created automatically when you sign a document. Specifically:
- Business and contact details you enter during intake: legal entity name, DBA, entity type, jurisdiction, billing email, and phone number.
- Project details: the plan and payment schedule you select, and the answers you provide about the site you want built.
- Signer identity: the name, title, and email address of the person accepting a document, and the party they are signing on behalf of.
- Signature evidence: which acceptance checkboxes you ticked, a cryptographic hash and version identifier of the exact document you accepted, the date and time of acceptance, the IP address the acceptance came from, and your browser user agent string.
- Copies of the documents themselves: your proposal, contract, and the signed packet we generate for your records.
- Operational logs: an audit record of significant portal events, such as a draft being submitted, a secure link being issued, or a document being signed.
How we use it
We use this information to run the portal and to do the work you have engaged us for. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
- To prepare and present your proposal and contract, and to let you resume an in-progress intake.
- To record and prove your acceptance of a document. The signature-evidence fields exist for this reason: they are what allow either party to later demonstrate who accepted which document, when, and from where.
- To deliver, support, and bill for the services described in your contract.
- To communicate with you about your project.
- To keep the portal secure — detecting misuse, investigating problems, and maintaining an audit trail.
- To meet our legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations.
Cookies and tracking
The portal does not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, or cross-site tracking. It sets cookies only where one is needed to make the site work — for example, to keep a Babbage staff member signed in to the administrative area. Access to your own intake and contract is granted through an expiring secure link rather than a tracked login.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is necessary to operate the portal or where the law requires it. Our service providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
- Infrastructure providers who host the portal, its database, and the encrypted storage where signed document copies are kept.
- Internal notification tools we use to alert our own team that an intake or signature has come in. These receive only a short summary — typically the business name, plan, and payment schedule — not the full record.
- Professional advisors, such as our accountants or attorneys, where needed.
- Law enforcement, regulators, or a court where we are legally required to disclose, or where disclosure is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
- A successor entity, if Babbage is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You would be notified before your information became subject to a different privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Retention depends on what the record is for. Incomplete intake drafts expire on their own; the secure link that resumes a draft is valid for fourteen days, and links issued for reviewing or signing a document expire within thirty days.
Executed contracts and their signature-evidence records are kept for the life of the engagement and then for as long as they remain relevant to our legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations — generally at least seven years after the engagement ends. We keep these deliberately: a clickwrap signature is only as good as the evidence that supports it, so we do not delete the acceptance record while the underlying agreement could still matter to either party.
Operational and audit logs are retained on a shorter cycle appropriate to security and troubleshooting needs.
How we protect it
The portal is served over TLS. Secure links are stored as one-way hashes rather than as usable tokens, so a copy of our database does not yield a working link. Signed document copies are stored with restricted access, and administrative areas of the portal require a separate credential. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of business contract records.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable period, and within any timeframe the law requires.
Some information we cannot delete on request. Where a record is part of an executed contract or the evidence supporting your signature on it, we will keep it for as long as our legal and recordkeeping obligations require, and we will tell you when that is the reason for declining.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — for example under the California Consumer Privacy Act — including the right to know what we collect, the right to deletion, the right to correction, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Babbage does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Children
The portal is a business tool intended for our clients and their authorized representatives. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the portal changes or as the law requires. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request about your information, can be sent to [email protected], or to [email protected] if your question concerns a specific contract. Please include enough detail for us to identify your records — the business name and the email address you used in the portal is usually enough.
